How to be a better at Arguing.

Our next club meeting / event is Thursday, Oct. 18.

It is a special early edition meeting with a special guest.
We will meet at 11am in the Cultural Awareness Center
(inside the SCC Student Center) for a presentation and Q&A
with Philosophy Professor Nick Diehl.

Nick will discuss the formal structure of argument by analogy and some of it’s applications, including legal precedent, satire, and the design argument.

This meeting is open to the public, so bring your friends and enemies. See you there!

(The CAC is the room in the back of the Student Center, on the east side of the SCC campus quad)

OCTOBER 4 CLUB MEETING

We will be meeting from 12 noon – 2pm near the SCC fountain in front of the Performing Arts Center.

Open forum discussion, including post presidential debate for sure. Feel free to come, suggest topics and take part.

IMPORTANT: If you are signed up for next week’s trip to Berkeley to see Richard Dawkins, please bring $10 to pay for your ticket and confirm with Don Button.

Welcome to Fall 2012

The Freethinkers club has a busy and exciting Fall semester planned. We’ll have a few events every month and look forward to a lot of student participation.

Our first full meeting will be Thursday, Sept. 6 from 12 noon to about 2pm.

We will be meeting outside in the SCC quad near the gazebo. Look for our sign.

April 17: The first ever SkepTube! event

What the hell is a SkepTube you may ask? Of course you would ask… because as far as we know, it’s never been done before, so how could you know what it is?

SkepTube is a 3-hour currated festival of video clips from a variety of online sources addressing a variety of provocative and thoughtful topics. Videos will be shown in 10-15 minute thematic blocks followed by short open audience discussions. The schedule of themes is posted below. Audience members are welcome come and go at any time during the event.

11/10 @ SCC: Are We Proving The Negative Yet?

LOCATION & PARKING INFO: LRC-105 is on the first floor of the Learning Resource Center – the Library building at the south end of the central quad. Members of the public can park in the parking lots and garage on the northeast corner of campus by purchasing a $1 day pass at any of the blue kiosks in the lots. There is also free evening street parking on Freeport Blvd. near the northwest corner of campus.Please arrive early to park and walk to venue.
